Tift County, GA (July 9, 2025) – A tragic collision early Monday morning claimed the life of a bicyclist and left a driver seriously injured on GA Highway 35.
According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. when a northbound red Ford Edge struck a bicyclist riding along the far-right edge of the same lane.
Authorities say the driver of the SUV immediately turned around, parking on the west shoulder of the southbound side of the highway. She crossed the roadway in an attempt to render aid to the cyclist. Afterward, while trying to return to her vehicle, she was struck by a southbound Ford F-250.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford Edge was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
