Gordon Co., GA (July 19, 2025) — Two people were injured on Thursday morning following a serious crash at the intersection of Highway 136 and Corinth Road, according to preliminary information from the Georgia State Patrol.
The crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. on July 17, and involved a Lincoln Aviator and a Ford F-550. Authorities say the Lincoln was heading north on Corinth Road and had stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. However, the driver reportedly proceeded into the path of the oncoming Ford, which was traveling east on Hwy. 136.
The resulting impact caused the Ford F-550 to veer off the roadway and overturn, coming to rest on its roof.
Both drivers were injured in the crash, though officials confirmed their injuries were not life-threatening. Emergency responders transported them to local hospitals for treatment.
Traffic along Hwy. 136 was disrupted for about an hour, with at least one lane closed as crews worked to clear the scene. The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
We hope the injured parties make a rapid and complete recovery.
Georgia Car Crashes
Each year, Georgia roads see thousands of serious vehicle accidents, with many occurring in high-traffic areas like metro Atlanta. Heavily traveled highways such as I-75 are especially prone to collisions due to fast-moving vehicles, sudden slowdowns, and sheer traffic volume. Data from the Georgia Department of Transportation continues to highlight motor vehicle crashes as one of the leading causes of injury across the state.
Multi-vehicle accidents are among the most dangerous and damaging, often leaving victims with long-term physical, emotional, and financial burdens. These collisions are frequently caused by:
Following Too Closely: During rush hour and heavy traffic, drivers often tailgate without realizing the risk. A sudden stop can easily spark a chain-reaction crash, resulting in multiple vehicles being hit and occupants suffering injuries such as whiplash and spinal trauma.
Unsafe Lane Changes: Weaving through traffic without signaling or failing to properly check mirrors and blind spots can lead to sideswipes or force other drivers to react suddenly, often causing pileups on multi-lane highways like I-285 and I-20.
Distracted Driving: Whether it’s checking a text, adjusting a GPS, or reaching for something in the car, even brief distractions can cause catastrophic consequences, especially on fast-paced roads where reaction time is critical.
Speeding in Stop-and-Go Traffic: Atlanta drivers may accelerate during brief breaks in congestion, only to be caught off-guard when traffic grinds to a halt again. Excessive speed combined with reduced stopping distance is a recipe for multi-car collisions.
