Emerson, GA – Child Airlifted, 4 Injured in Multi Vehicle Crash on I-75 SB

Emerson, GA (September 2, 2025) – On September 1, a 7-year-old boy was airlifted after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 southbound near mile marker 281. Georgia State Patrol said a northbound car hit a Toyota Camry just before 4:30 p.m. The Camry then struck a Chevy Suburban in an adjacent lane. Both vehicles crossed the median into the southbound lanes.

The Suburban overturned and hit a southbound Chevy Silverado. The child was thrown from the Silverado during the impact, troopers said. A helicopter flew the boy to Scottish Rite Hospital for treatment. Medics also transported three other people to area hospitals. Officials have not released their conditions.

Troopers reported that the northbound car continued on I-75 after the initial contact. Investigators are working to identify that driver. Crash teams documented the scene and interviewed witnesses. Southbound lanes remained closed for roughly three hours while crews worked.

The investigation is ongoing under the Georgia State Patrol. Anyone with dashcam video from the area around mile marker 281 and Emerson-Allatoona Road is asked to contact investigators.

We hope that those involved in this crash make a full and swift recovery.

Serious Highway Crashes in Bartow County

High-speed corridors like I-75 leave little room for error. A single contact at freeway speed can trigger a chain reaction. Median crossings and rollovers raise the risk of ejection and serious trauma. Children face unique risks if belts or child restraints are loose or misused. After any highway crash, a full medical exam is vital. Symptoms of head, neck, or internal injuries may appear hours later.

If you witness or are involved in a severe crash, gather safe evidence. Photograph final vehicle positions, debris paths, and the median or barrier. Save 911 call times, tow receipts, and hospital discharge notes. Ask troopers for the incident number and later request the report from GSP. These records help document the full impact on your family.

Insurance carriers may contact victims quickly. Recorded statements can harm a claim before injuries are understood. Multi-vehicle highway crashes often involve several policies and complex fault questions. Early legal guidance helps preserve video, obtain black-box data, and coordinate expert reconstruction.
