1 Killed, 3 Hurt in Head On 3 Vehicle Crash on Hwy 129 N

Cleveland, GA (September 3, 2025) – A Clermont man died and three others were hurt in a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon on Hwy 129 N/SR 11 near Albert Reid Rd. The wreck happened just before 1:00 p.m.

The Georgia State Patrol said a southbound Kia Forte crossed the centerline while the driver was distracted. The Kia hit a northbound Toyota Corolla head-on. A Lexus ES then struck the back of the Toyota. The Kia’s front seat passenger, a 51-year-old Clermont man, died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.

Medics took the Kia driver, the Toyota driver, and the Lexus driver to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. All three vehicles had disabling damage. Crews from the Cleveland Fire Department, White County Fire Services, White County EMS, the White County Sheriff’s Office, and GSP responded.

State troopers closed the northbound lanes for hours while they documented the scene. GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting. Charges are pending, according to troopers.

The investigation continues under Georgia State Patrol. For local records or community information, residents may also contact the Cleveland Police Department.

We hope that those involved in this crash make a full and swift recovery.

Car Accidents in White County

Head-on crashes are among the most severe roadway events. Two vehicles moving toward each other multiply the impact force. Even modern safety systems cannot absorb all that energy. Distraction, fatigue, or a late correction can place a car over the centerline in seconds.

After a serious wreck, get medical care right away. Some injuries appear hours later. Keep every record tied to the crash. Save ER bills, imaging, prescriptions, and therapy notes. Photograph vehicle damage, debris, lane markings, and the roadway once it is safe. Ask troopers for the incident number. If the crash was investigated by GSP, you can request the report through the Georgia Department of Public Safety’s open records process.

Insurance adjusters often call quickly and ask for recorded statements. Consider waiting until a doctor explains your injuries. Multi-vehicle crashes may involve several insurance policies and disputes over fault. Early legal help can preserve dashcam footage, business video, and electronic data. Good documentation supports claims for medical care, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
