Carrollton, GA (June 11, 2025) – A Carrollton police officer was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic near a construction zone on Highway 27. The officer had just positioned himself under a traffic light near an Ingles grocery store when a southbound vehicle collided with him, pushing him several feet down the road before the vehicle struck another car.
Witnesses reported the impact was sudden and forceful, with the officer being hit moments after taking his spot. The collision occurred in an area where one lane was closed for construction, contributing to the hazardous conditions. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the officer was airlifted to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta for treatment.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured officer.
Georgia Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents remain a serious safety concern throughout Georgia, resulting in thousands of injuries and tragic fatalities each year. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, pedestrian collisions continue to contribute significantly to the state’s overall traffic-related injuries. Many of these accidents are preventable and often involve factors such as driver negligence, distracted driving, speeding, or failure to yield to pedestrians.
If you or someone you know has been injured as a pedestrian, it’s important to recognize the range of possible injuries that can occur:
- Traumatic Injuries: Pedestrians struck by vehicles often suffer fractures, head trauma, and severe soft tissue damage. Due to the vulnerability of pedestrians, even low-speed collisions can lead to critical injuries requiring immediate medical attention.
- Spinal Injuries and Mobility Issues: Damage to the spine or nervous system can result in long-term disabilities, impacting your ability to work and carry out daily activities.
- Internal Injuries: Impact forces can cause internal bleeding and organ damage that may not be immediately obvious but pose serious health risks.
- Emotional and Psychological Effects: The trauma of being hit by a vehicle can lead to anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mental health challenges that require professional care.
In addition to pedestrian injuries, many Georgians face the challenge of recovering from injuries sustained on the job. Workplace accidents can include falls, machinery incidents, repetitive strain injuries, and exposure to hazardous conditions. These injuries not only affect your physical health but can also impact your livelihood and financial stability.
If you’ve been injured as a pedestrian or on the job, consulting with an experienced attorney is essential. Navigating insurance claims, workers’ compensation, and liability issues can be complex, and having knowledgeable legal support can make a significant difference in your recovery process.
