Burke Co., GA (August 14, 2025) – A deadly single-vehicle crash in Burke County claimed the lives of two men on Wednesday evening.
Authorities identified the victims as 49-year-old Russell Shayne Findley of Greiner Circle in Hephzibah and 31-year-old Gabriel Lee Bobbitt of Ball Ground.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the 800 block of Hancock Landing Road at approximately 7:40 p.m. Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle was traveling south at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to navigate a curve.
Investigators stated that the car veered off the road, struck a culvert in the ditch along the west side, and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop on the same side of the roadway.

Georgia Car Accidents
In 2022, nearly 1,800 people died in traffic collisions across Georgia—a staggering figure that represents more than just a statistic. Each number reflects a family member, friend, or neighbor whose life ended unexpectedly, leaving loved ones to cope with grief, unanswered questions, and a sudden void.
What’s especially heartbreaking is that most of these tragedies could have been prevented. Research shows that over 90% of fatal crashes result from preventable driver errors. Excessive speed, impaired driving, and dangerous distractions—such as texting behind the wheel—are among the most common causes.
The ripple effects of a deadly crash devastate families. They may face funeral expenses, the loss of household income, and a lifetime of emotional pain. While nothing can replace the loss of a loved one, taking legal action can provide a sense of justice and help secure the financial stability survivors need.
