Bulloch Co., GA – Azure Roundtree Killed in Semi Crash on Hwy 46

Bulloch Co., GA (August 21, 2025) – A tragic collision Tuesday evening in southern Bulloch County claimed the life of a Nevils woman and left her daughter critically injured, according to authorities.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 46 and Nevils-Denmark Road. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Matthew Davis said a semi-truck failed to stop at a four-way stop and struck a Honda Odyssey van.

One of the passengers in the van, identified as 49-year-old Azure Rountree of Nevils, died at the scene. Her daughter, who was also in the vehicle, was airlifted by Lifestar to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah. Officials reported her condition as critical.

Emergency crews arrived quickly, and the Lifestar helicopter touched down at the scene around 6 p.m. to transport the injured child.

Authorities closed the intersection for several hours—until about 10 p.m.—to allow investigators to reconstruct the crash and gather evidence.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the fatal wreck. Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident.

Georgia Truck Accidents

Tragically, fatal truck accidents are becoming all too common, leaving families shattered and communities searching for answers.

Every year, Georgia sees hundreds of deadly crashes involving large commercial trucks. Interstates like I-75, I-85, and I-20 are frequent sites of these tragedies, where the size and weight of an 18-wheeler make even a single mistake catastrophic. Whether it’s a truck driver failing to stop in time, an improperly loaded trailer, or fatigue from long hours on the road, most of these deadly crashes could have been prevented.

The aftermath of a fatal truck accident extends far beyond the crash scene. Families are left grieving while also facing overwhelming financial burdens—funeral expenses, lost income, and the uncertainty of how to move forward.
