Bulloch Co., GA (August 21, 2025) – A tragic collision Tuesday evening in southern Bulloch County claimed the life of a Nevils woman and left her daughter critically injured, according to authorities.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 46 and Nevils-Denmark Road. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Matthew Davis said a semi-truck failed to stop at a four-way stop and struck a Honda Odyssey van.
One of the passengers in the van, identified as 49-year-old Azure Rountree of Nevils, died at the scene. Her daughter, who was also in the vehicle, was airlifted by Lifestar to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah. Officials reported her condition as critical.
Emergency crews arrived quickly, and the Lifestar helicopter touched down at the scene around 6 p.m. to transport the injured child.
Authorities closed the intersection for several hours—until about 10 p.m.—to allow investigators to reconstruct the crash and gather evidence.
