Douglas Co., GA - Five-Car Accident Injures Three on I-20 near SR-6

Douglas Co., GA (July 28, 2025) – A major crash involving five vehicles left three people injured—including a 10-year-old child—on Monday afternoon, July 28, along Interstate 20, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The collision occurred just before 1:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near State Route 6/Thornton Road in Lithia Springs, leading to a complete shutdown of eastbound traffic for several hours.

Authorities say the crash was triggered when a westbound dump truck suffered a front left tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control. The truck veered across the median, broke through the guardrail, and entered the eastbound lanes, where it collided with three additional vehicles. One of the impacted vehicles overturned during the chaotic chain reaction.

Two individuals were transported to Wellstar Cobb Medical Center, while the injured child was taken to Scottish Rite Hospital for specialized care.

As of now, the investigation remains active. More information will be released as details are confirmed.

We hope those hurt in this wreck make a rapid recovery.
