Port Wentworth, GA (July 21, 2025) – A tragic collision claimed the life of a South Carolina woman Monday afternoon in Port Wentworth, near the entrance to the International Paper Mill.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred on July 21, shortly before 3 p.m., on GA Highway 25. Authorities say Kelly Sullivan, of Bluffton, was behind the wheel of a BMW when her vehicle struck a load of logs of a turning log truck. The truck was attempting to make a left turn into the paper mill at the time.
After hitting the logs, the BMW veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree. Sullivan was rushed to Memorial Hospital for treatment, but sadly succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the log truck continued into the mill to unload the cargo. Officials have not yet released that individual’s identity, and the investigation remains ongoing.
